Abstract :
An experimental half-size puffer breaker with an insulating nozzle which is at rest during breaker opening has been used for measuring the distribution of dynamic pressure, electrical potential and ablation in the nozzle area. At the current levels used for the tests nozzle clogging can be expected. The effect of several nozzle configurations on the various measured properties has been determined for different initial pressures and magnitudes of current.
