Abstract :
This paper presents an evaluation of the synthetic loading test method. A synthetic load test in which two frequencies are simultaneously applied to the motor provides a means for generating losses in the machine without connecting the shaft of the motor to a loading device. In broad principle, although not in detail, it is analogous to operating an unloaded synchronous machine over-excited to conduct a temperature test.
