  • Abstract
This article focuses on a narrow aspect of possible engineering career strategies. In particular, these are ideas that may be helpful for engineers who begin their careers on the front line of technology, i.e. those who research, design, and/or produce new products and services. Furthermore, the primary focus is on formal and informal education and on-the-job training as the critical partners. Through personal observations, the author suggests that these partners work best for engineers who stay close to the technical side of the profession.
