  • Abstract
    A description of the VICKSI facility is given with emphasis on the special properties which make VICKSI particularly suitable for measurements of charge exchange losses during cyclotron acceleration. Measurements of these losses for carbon-, neon- and argon-ions at different vacuum levels are reported. At the normal operating pressure of VICKSI, namely 3 . 10-7 mbar, no losses could be observed for carbon and neon ions, while for argon the transmission to extraction radius was 92%.
