Abstract :
This letter proposes a centralized frequency stabilization technique for uplink signals in dense wavelength- division- multiplexed passive optical networks; it is based on dithering the transmission spectra of the demultiplexer. To ensure that the proposed technique achieves a wide capture range, a planar lightwave circuit is developed that incorporates a Mach–Zehnder interferometer and two arrayed waveguide gratings. Experimental results show that the wide capture range of \\pm 25 GHz is established without any significant power penalty.
