Abstract :
Service providers use dedicated network resources to guarantee Quality of Service (QoS) to deliver high-quality data. Proposed is an analytical evaluation of the Grade of Service (GoS) that service providers offer for elastic reservations. These reservations may define a range of acceptable QoS levels as has been proposed in the QoS NSIS Signalling Layer Protocol. Also proposed is a method to calculate the maximum size of the reservations to guarantee a particular GoS. The analytical evaluation uses a Markov chain with batch arrivals and batch departures and results are confirmed by simulation
