Abstract
The decrease in gain and the increase in the first sidelobe level, caused by aperture blocking by the subreflector in a Cassegrain antenna, are investigated. These effects, which are highly dependent on the nature of the aperture-distribution function and greatest for highly tapered illuminations that produce low sidelobes in the secondary pattern, are quantified.<>
