Abstract :
It is no big secret that during difficult financial times, savvy companies invest more heavily in research and development (R&D) assets. At first glance, this may seem counterintuitive, as companies usher in all-out austerity programs and are forced to lay off a large portion of their workers. But the fact is that such focus on investing in future, long-term assets proves to be the wisest way to guarantee pulling out of a down-turn faster than anyone else.
