Abstract :
The field-dependent evolution of torque curves for CrO2 tapes in reversible and irreversible regimes has been studied employing Fourier analysis and has been correlated with VSM (vibrating sample magnetometry) data. It is shown that the field dependence of the torque coefficients may be related to internal anisotropy fields, the remanent state, moment rotation, and reptation. The analysis is applicable to any anisotropic medium, while the schedules are of relevance to media performance under nonideal (nonsaturating) vector fields of magnetic recording processes
