  • Abstract
The planning of power plant fan installations is described, focusing on a consideration that is presently lacking in the technical literature, i.e. that electrical and mechanical design of drive components must suit wiring practices based on recognized industry standards. Safety grounding, medium-voltage cable termination, cable training, and electrical clearances are involved. The design shortcomings found during installation of several large 4 kV drives are explained, and the corrective actions taken (including the revision of specifications for later drive projects) are described
