  • Abstract
We are beginning to assess the impact of digital technologies and are starting to devise strategies to handle the changes that computers have wrought upon the environment. It is not an easy task. Too much of what we do in the name of green computing merely moves the problem out of our sight and puts it in the hands of distant technicians with little incentive to dispose of the waste in a way that leaves the earth untouched by our technologies.
