Abstract :
Fusion applications require moderate superconducting critical current densities with low AC loss. We have investigated the possibility of reduced hysteresis loss by reducing the filament bundle diameter. For a coupled filament bundle, this reduces the volume screened by supercurrents thus reducing the hysteresis loss. We present results which show the method is effective albeit the present goal has not yet been reached.<>
