Abstract :
The activities which make up manufacturing create markets for services and other industries as well as supplying them. Success in manufacturing is central to the continuing prosperity of the people of the United Kingdom. In order that the UK enters the 21st century with a manufacturing base able to compete with the best in the world the National Manufacturing Council has been set up. The author discusses how this will help the UK to have better living standards and improved quality of life and career prospects
