Abstract :
When this column appears in print, the application period for the first Wireless Communication Engineering Technologies (WCET) certification examination will have closed. Candidates will be busy studying for the exam, which will be offered beginning September 22. After several years of intensive effort to develop the program, reaching this milestone would seem to be a time to relax. The description of the technical content of the program has been finalized in the Delineation of areas of responsibility and specific tasks and knowledge. Questions have been written, reviewed, and incorporated into the exam. A practice exam has been created, a Candidate´s Handbook has been published, an Industry Advisory Board is in place, a completely revised Web site has been launched, an electronic newsletter is appearing on a bi-monthly basis, and the Wireless Engineering Body of Knowledge (WEBOK) is being published.
