Abstract :
This paper describes a real-time data acquisition system using a bank-switchable bulk memory. The bulk memory is used to improve data acquisition efficiency and to overcome data rate limitations often imposed by secondary storage devices. Data rates of over 500,000 words per second have been measured. The data acquisition system is implemented for a PDP-11 as a set of cooperating tasks running under the RSX-11M operating system.
