            Abstract :
The throughput of an FM mobile radio channel employing a nonpersistent multiple access protocol with inhibit sensing to provide packet data transmission is presented. With FM capture, the variations in received packet power due to propagation loss and multipath allow a packet to be successfully received in the presence of interfering packets, thus increasing the throughput over FM without capture.
