Abstract :
For many years now people have been talking about the `IT revolution´. Companies, and indeed administrations, have been investing huge sums of money in the development of base technologies, product development and corporate information since the late 1970s/early 1980s, but it is only relatively recently that we have seen real benefits being secured from this investment. Why is this the case? What has happened to make the IT revolution a reality at last?
