Abstract :
An 80×80 port free space crossconnect that uses individual collimators and beam steering micromirrors is presented. The switch uses a design with beams converging on the micromirrors, which leads to a small footprint of 50×40×20 mm3, and an optimal use of the tilt angle range of the micromirrors. The switch exhibits a mean insertion loss of 2.5 dB, and a crosstalk rejection better than 60 dB.
