Abstract :
A simple and power-efficient, all-optical format conversion from 10 Gbit/s RZ-OOK to BPSK is demonstrated using a single semiconductor optical amplifier and optical bandpass filtering. A receiver sensitivity penalty of ~1 dB relative to baseline RZ-OOK was obtained for ~-0.17 nm filter detuning relative to the probe carrier wavelength
