Abstract
Wave-front aberrations of a liquid crystal variable-focus lens driven by two voltages are evaluated. An appropriate operating voltage ensuring the smallest RMS aberration is first determined. It is kept unchanged and the lens focus is tuned by a controlling voltage. The RMS and spherical aberrations at various lens power are measured at blue laser wavelength (405 nm). They generally increase with lens power
