Abstract :
A novel approach based on a waveguide model is proposed for determining the complex propagation constant of a leaky wave structure by Galerkin´s method. Then the far field radiation can be obtained in terms of the tangential electric fields in the Fourier transform domain. By this approach the undesirable sidelobe in the radiation pattern is shown and patterns with lower sidelobes can be obtained.
