Abstract :
Results are presented for a 565 Mbit/s coherent DPSK system operating with a laser power amplifier and up to four cascaded laser amplifier repeaters. The importance of maintaining a good signal/spontaneous noise power ratio and low facet reflectivity amplifiers to reduce backward-travelling waves was demonstrated.
