Abstract :
A polymer waveguide thermooptic (2×2) switch is reported. It exhibits very low polarisation independent crosstalk of <-40 dB for either switching state with only 3 mW (`cross´ state) and 20 mW (`bar´ state) electrical power consumption at λ=1.55 μm. Based on this switching element, a (4×4) switching matrix with a crosstalk of <-30 dB was fabricated
