Abstract :
The authors demonstrate optical transmissions at 10 Gbit/s on standard dispersive fibre using a partial response scheme. Investigations have been carried out concerning the optimum launched power into a 142 km long repeaterless link in order to quantify the effects of self-phase modulation. According to these results, 243 km of standard fibre, totalling a dispersion of 4500 ps/nm, has been bridged without any dispersion compensating device
