Abstract :
A phase sensitive gain of 23 dB is achieved using a pulse excited nonlinear loop mirror with a 3 km zero dispersion optical fibre. It is shown that the phase sensitive amplifier (PSA) behaves as a limiting amplifier in the high input signal power region. The suppression of amplitude fluctuation in the input signal is also demonstrated using the PSA as a limiting amplifier
