Abstract :
The influence of the nature of various solid electrodes in contact with the liquid on the propagation of water trees was studied in laboratory experiments, using the water-needle method. Several hypotheses put forward to account for the observed electrode effect are examined. It is shown that the role played by the electrode is essentially due to ions entering into solution in the liquid through electrode corrosion
