  • Abstract
While skills and knowledge are important particularly in the early days of your career, your ability to manage and lead people becomes more important than your knowledge as you climb up the career ladder. Becoming emotionally intelligent will assist you greatly in this challenge. Studies have shown that the key ingredients to transformational leadership are core parts of emotional intelligence (EI). To help you become emotionally intelligent, this paper presents a brief description of EI and its key areas and provides some guidelines on how you can develop it quickly.
