Abstract :
With the increased amount of video data to record on a videocassette tape, the recording time as well as the recording quality has become an important factor in the VCR technology. In general, the recording time in a VCR with an SP (standard play) head is at most 3 hours on a T-180 tape. This paper describes an advanced VCR technology with an ULP (ultra long play) mode whose recording time is 15 hours on a T-180 tape, which is 5 times longer than the SP mode.
