Abstract :
Current maximum data rates from the Spin Spectrometer of ~5000 events/s (up to 1.3 MBytes/s) and minimum analysis requiring at least 3000 operations/event require a CPU cycle time near 70 ns. In order to achieve an effective cycle time of 70 ns, a parallel processing device is proposed. Up to 4 independent processors will be implemented in parallel in a quasi-CAMAC environment. The individual processors are designed around the Am2910 Microsequencer, the AM29116 ¿P, and the Am29517 Multiplier. Satellite histogramming will be handled by a commercial 16-bit ¿P system.
