Abstract :
This paper describes the single-chip LSI for HD DVD/DVD/CD, which we have developed. Since the demand for high-capacity media that can record high-definition movies for an extended time is increasing, HD DVD has been rapidly developed as the next-generation DVD. To achieve downsizing and low power consumption of the LSI, we developed a single-chip LSI which includes an HD DVD signal processing circuit, DVD/CD signal processing circuit and CPU. The new digital read channel provides high readout performance for HD DVD signal which has high intersymbol interference. A progressed ECC (error correction code) core contributes to the LSI downsizing.
