Abstract
The self- and mutual inductance of a spiral inductor changes significantly with increased frequency as a result of current redistribution on the metallic trace. This phenomenon changes due to the skin depth and eddy current effect. The basic formulae for inductance calculations are studied and further improved. Theories are tested against measured data on sample spiral inductors fabricated on a silicon substrate.
