Abstract :
A novel sensorless control strategy for power smoothing in wind-diesel applications is presented. The system is based on a direct rotor flux oriented vector controlled induction machine driving a flywheel. A flux weakening control strategy is implemented to operate the induction machine up to twice the base speed. To estimate the speed a speed observer is used. Experimental results, showing excellent performance, are discussed.
