Abstract
Energy dependent delays in case of a coincidence beta spectrometer and the detecting system have been studied. Both the ends of the spectrometer were coupled with scintillation counters comprising of plastic scintillator pilot U and sub-nanosecond rise time photomultiplier RCA C70045D. Timing pulses were processed by electronic units, which included Ortec TFA, CFPHD and Biased TPHC. Conversion electrons from Ir-192 were utilized for these studies. In one channel of the spectrometer a fixed energy 468 Kev K-conversion electrons were focused, while different energy electrons in the range of 468 to 670 Kev were focused in the other channel. Moments of the resulting delayed time spectra were calculated about the mean of peak position as a function of difference in energy of the radiations in the two channels. A polynomial fitting to the experimental points was used. The results show a nonlinear character even over an energy range of 200 Kev.
