Abstract :
Specific rates, in units of 104 s-1, for the pseudo-first order reactions of the solvated electron with its solvents for C1 to C10 1-alkanols measured by pulse radiolysis at 25°C are given in parentheses after the names of 1-alkanols: methanol and ethanol (10), 1-propanol (6), 1-butanol to 1-octanol (5), 1-nonanol (6), and 1-decanol (¿ 16). These specific rates are discussed in terms of the viscosities of the solvents, radii and masses of the solvated electrons and energies of activation of the reactions.
