Abstract :
The processes occurring during the heat treatment of Ni coated CdTe crystals have been investigated by means of Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction measurements and Auger Electron Spectroscopy. The heat treatment, at temperatures higher than 3500C, gives rise mainly to a solid-solid reaction between Ni and Te to form a mixture of NiTe and NiTe2. Small quantities of Ni Tellurates have been also detected on the sample surfaces.
