Abstract :
We demonstrate a dielectric thin-film Fabry-Peacuterot etalon operated as a dispersion compensator in a mode-locked fiber-laser cavity. The etalon generates anomalous dispersion near the low-loss spectral window and, consequently, the laser mode-locked by the semiconductor saturable absorber favors operation at anomalous dispersion regime without spectral filter. The etalon compensator is tunable, compact, easy to align, and suitable for picosecond and subpicosecond pulse operation
