Abstract :
The design and implementation of a voice controlled telephone dialer is described. The dialer is based on a speaker-dependent speech recognition system and is controlled by a Commodore 64 microcomputer. The purpose of the system is to recognize spoken digits to replace normal pushbutton dialing, or to recognize names stored in a directory and then automatically dial the corresponding telephone numbers upon request. Software necessary to evaluate and operate the system is presented. The hardware designed to interface the telephone with the microcomputer is given. The performance of the system is discussed
