Abstract :
The purpose of the letter is to make known an original method for connecting several feedback shift registers (f.s.r.s) in a chain. A pseudorandom noise generator can be obtained with a constant spectrum of square-wave pulse length. While the linear f.s.r. gives an attenuation of 6 dB per step, an attenuation of 6 × 10¿3 dB can be obtained in a chain of ten f.s.r.s over a wide range with the improved connection. The randomness is affected by internal similar subcycles; these can be avoided in various ways.
