Transhorizon v.h.f. propagation over ground--air paths

Observations on characteristics of transhorizon v.h.f. signals emitted from ground-based transmitters and received in an airborne receiver over three radio paths are reported here. The observed transmission loss has been found to be consistently lower than the long-term median value predicted by empirical methods applicable to temperate climatic regions.
