Abstract :
An overview is given of the Nippon Television Network (NTV) proposal for an enhanced-definition TV (EDTV) system for Japan. The proposed system is compatible with the current NTSC standard. Possible enhancements considered include better horizontal and vertical luminance resolution, chrominance resolution, rejection of cross-color and cross-luminance interference, better signal-to-noise ratio, and improved sharpness.
