Abstract
The VPV (video programs video recorder) systems standard allows unequivocal recognition and interpretation of video cassette recorded (VCR) timer preprogramming data in a teletext program schedule. Together with a machine-readable page memory this makes it possible to implement fully-automatic timer-programming procedures in the VCR. The VPV specification defines data formats and rules for their correlation; it gives a number of example program tables to show the broadcaster how to apply the standards. For the VCR manufacturer, it recommends how to process the VPV program pages.
