Abstract
Although the Daresbury Synchrotron Radiation Source normally operates at high current in the multibunch mode, some experimental users require only a few well separated bunches. A two stage r.f. chopper system produces a single 1 ns. bunch from the SRS linear accelerator. A versatile timing system for syn chronising the linear accelerator, booster synchrotron and storage ring, which permits the single bunch to be loaded into any specified storage ring bucket is described. Techniques of setting up and monitoring are discussed and illustrated by details of operational performance.
