Determination of octantal error on a 4-element adcock direction finder

It is shown that bearings taken on a signal with a 4-element Adcock direction finder can be corrected for octantal error by means of an additional measurement made on the signal. A suitable measurement would be a comparison of the sum signals (N + S) and (E + W).
