Abstract :
A general approach to phase-plane analysis of the equation ÿ+f(u, u¿)= 0, complementary to the method of isoclines, is presented. The idea is to map the plane with a family of curves, termed isocentrics. Each curve, associated with a point termed its isocentre, has the property that a trajectory crossing it at any point is tangential to a clockwise arc struck from the isocentre. Examples illustrate the method.
