Abstract :
The authors report changes in waveguiding characteristics of silver/sodium ion-exchanged optical waveguides after the post-baking treatment. The refractive index profile shapes of single-mode and multimode waveguides were investigated using the SEM method with a Robinson backscatter detector, while changes in waveguide attenuation was monitored using a 2-dimensional surface scattering system for various short and long postbaking times
