Abstract :
Optimum amplitude functions for pulse transmission are considered. A new amplitude function which is, in practice, more favourable than the raised-cosine or the Gaussian function is proposed. The impulse response of the proposed function decreases faster than that of the raised-cosine function, and its attenuation pole is, in the finite domain, not far from that of the raised-cosine type.
