Abstract :
A new data acquisition was designed and installed at NSCL to meet the the experimental demands for increased data acquisition rates and faster preprocessing. The system is based on the MC68010 microprocessor and the VME bus. This configuration will allow data acquisition rates well over a Megabyte/sec. Additionally, the powerful instruction set minimizes the difficulties of program development and the system is completely upwards compatible with the MC68020 with its 32 bit bus and faster cycle times.
