  • Abstract
Piloting today´s ultrasophisticated fighters and bombers requires a tremendous amount of information that is immediately accessible and rapidly comprehensible. Providing a pilot with that information is one of the goals of Aeronautical Systems Division´s Flight Dynamics Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, where laboratory and contractor engineers have upgraded the Flight Control Division´s single-seat, large-amplitude multimode aerospace research simulator, or LAMARS, and the two-seat fighterbomber simulator to simulate terrain following/terrain avoidance, threat detection/threat avoidance, and other aspects of an aerial battlefield scenario.
