Abstract :
A two-dimensional model capable of predicting the external characteristics (voltage, current, EMF, torque, etc.) of synchronous motors with skewed stators is discussed. Software using finite elements, FLUX-2D, is used. The slots and the teeth are replaced by two line elements: a line air gap with width dependent on the flux density, and a current sheet which represents the stator slot current. It reduces the problem size and therefore the study time. The simplification does not seem to spoil the accuracy of the motor parameters.
