Abstract :
Clapper-type DC electromagnets are widely used for electromagnetic devices. For optimum design it is necessary to analyze the dynamic behavior of the electromagnet. A method to obtain the dynamic behavior of clapper-type electromagnets by 3D finite element analysis, taking into account the motion of the armature the eddy current, has been developed. This method makes analysis of the dynamic behavior of any electromagnet with a 3D shape possible. The validity of the method is confirmed by experiments.
